A book on Kuki women to be released soon

A book titled “The Kuki Women,” published by BOOKWELL from Delhi, is set for release in the month of November 2013. The book, a collection of articles, is edited by Hoineilhing Sitlhou, assistant professor of Sociology, University of Hyderabad (UoH), India.

The book discusses a wide range of issues pertaining to the Kuki society: gender prejudice, portrayal of women in folktales and myths, weaving, women in the informal economy as vendors, women organizations and collective protest, customary laws of the Vaiphei and Thadou women, status of the Simte women, women’s health, quality of life and healthcare accessibility, representation of women in Thadou-Kuki films, marriage system, and linguistic representation of men and women.
