Ambassador Jayant Prasad to release Dr. Nehginpao Kipgen’s book
Ambassador Jayant Prasad, Director General of Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses and former India Ambassador to Afghanistan, Algeria, Nepal, and a Rapporteur of the United Nations Commission on Human Rights, will formally release the book titled ‘Myanmar: A Political History’ at 4:00pm (local time) at Constitution Club of India, New Delhi on November 25, 2016.
The book release will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Sreeram Chaulia, Professor and Dean of Jindal School of International Affairs. The panelists include Dr. Shankari Sundararaman, Professor, Jawaharlal Nehru University; Gautam Mukhopadhaya, former India Ambassador to Myanmar (2013-16); Alok Bansal, Director of India Foundation; and Suhasini Haidar, Diplomatic Editor of The Hindu.
The book looks at Myanmar’s political history and its international relations: U.S.-Myanmar relations under President George Bush and President Barack Obama; examines Myanmar – China relations in three broad areas – politics, economy and military; India-Myanmar relations in the context of India’s look-east policy; cooperation problems on human rights within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations with respect to Myanmar.
Dr. Kipgen, author of the book, is Assistant Professor and Executive Director of Centre for Southeast Asian Studies, Jindal School of International Affairs, O.P. Jindal Global University. Dr. Kipgen has published three books, 15 peer-reviewed journal articles, and over 140 articles in various leading international newspapers and magazines in over 30 countries across five continents – Asia, Africa, Australia, Europe, North America.
The publisher, Oxford University Press, recommends the book for scholars and libraries of departments of Political Science, International Relations, History and Area Studies, journalists, think-tanks, administrators, and policy-makers interested in Myanmar.
